El P180 Avanti II es el modelo insignia de Piaggio Aero y la aeronave ejecutiva de turbohélice más rápida del mundo. Ofrece no sólo la velocidad de un jet ligero, sino el confort y aislamiento sonoro de una cabina mediana, y una eficiencia de combustible 40% menor que la de la mayoría de los jets ejecutivos. Este modelo brinda una eficiencia superior, mayor desempeño y más confort que cualquier otra aeronave ejecutiva en el mercado, y a menor precio. Su nueva versión cuenta con una configuración 3LSC que permite una reducción del 34% en alas, y por lo tanto, en peso y arrastre. Las claves para la eficiencia y velocidad de Avanti II recaen en su configuración de tres superficies de movimiento ascendentes, y en el ala delantera –también con movimiento ascendente– con solapas que se mueven en sincronía con las del ala principal. Sus motores de 850shp Canada PT6-66B de Pratt & Whitney –de los más confiables de la industria– impulsan al Avanti II a una altura certificada de 41,000 pies a una velocidad de 398 nudos; mucho más rápido que cualquier otro de su categoría. Además, con un rango de 1,800nm, el Avanti II puede realizar casi cualquier misión corporativa sin necesidad de recargar combustible, y puede despegar y aterrizar en áreas de menos de un kilómetro de extensión. El Avanti II cuenta con un sistema electrónico de vuelo Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 y está equipado con un sistema de control de vuelo satelital FMS 3000, así como con un sistema de referencia de altitud AHS 3000. Su fuselaje fue diseñado –tras exhaustivas pruebas en túnel de viento– con una forma no cilíndrica que también reduce el arrastre de la aeronave. Las fundas de aluminio del fuselaje tienen las medidas exactas de éste y fueron colocadas a succión para embonar a la perfección. El Avanti II tiene ciertas características de jet –algo casi imposible en la mayoría de los turbohélice– y conjuga a la perfección eficiencia de combustible, rango, celdas y dimensiones de cabina. No es de extrañar, entonces, que el Avanti II porte el título de Ferrari de los cielos.

It's design evolved to include PIAGGIO's patented Three- Lifting-Surface Configuration (3LSC), which permits a 34% reduction in total wing area over conventional designs, thereby reducing weight and drag; a non-cylindrical, low-drag fuselage shape developed through extensive wind tunnel testing. The Pratt & Whitney, Canada PT6-66B engines, rated at 1630 thermodynamic HP, are de-rated to 850 SHP.

The aluminum fuselage skins are formed to exact dimensions and held in place by vacuum molds. Stringers and formers are attached from the inside – thus avoiding typical fuselage imperfections found on other aircraft. The Avanti II really does have jet like characteristics, which no other turboprop can match. The Avanti II's combination of fuel efficiency cruise speed, range, celling and cabin size are hard to beat. The aircraft deserves its "Ferrari of the Skies " title and can hold its own against any similar sized jet.
